Northbrae is a progressive community church located in beautiful North Berkeley. We are committed to the interfaith tradition that has been a growing part of our history for many decades. Our identity and purpose are rooted in the progressive Christian tradition that leads us to reflect upon the life and teachings of Jesus. At the same time, our explorations are informed and inspired by the respectful study of world and indigenous religions. We welcome people of any religious tradition or of a secular spirituality to join with us in worship, fellowship, and in service to others.
Church Service: 10:30, followed by coffee and fellowship. Childcare for children ages 18 month to 5 years old is available on Sundays from 10:15 a.m. to noon while the child's adult(s) are at the service
NO SUNDAY SERVICES UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE Our Hearts Remain Together
Make the Effort Anyway by Ram Dass, Vedanta (Hindu)
Though it is difficult, I try to find the One in the many-- between the separateness of phenomena, and the One who exists in all things-- the Beloved who dwells in everyone.
Often I fail in my efforts when I cannot find the balance between the seeming separateness of things and their essential unity. During those times, I feel afraid. But make the effort anyway.
Today, again, we feel the tension between knowing how closely connected we are in heart, how deeply we need the comfort of being together, and fearing our ability to spread the coronavirus to each other. This is our task for the time being: feel the love and connection between us. Even so, keep a safe distance.
